God’s will for us is found, not so hidden, in today’s first reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the 1 Thessalonians 4: 1-8 and it’s this. “This is the will of God, your holiness: that you refrain from immorality…for God did not call us to impurity but to holiness. Therefore, whoever disregards this, disregards not a human being but God, who also gives his Holy Spirit to you.”
We have three callings or vocations from God – each to be lived out in holiness.
- Our Universal Call – to know, love and serve God. This is our path to holiness or sanctity. “Let the same mind be in you that was in Jesus Christ.” Philippians 2:5
- Our Primary Call – to be a gift to others in Matrimony, in Holy Orders, consecrated single or single and discerning.
- Our Secondary Call – the call to our daily work that puts food on the table.
