A fearless leaders allows himself to be pruned by Christ

A fearless leader is free from wounds of the past, from neurosis, from superficial spirituality, from an intellect that is bogged down in only light matters, from being a slave to their temperament, from being slave to addictions, from the vices that have turned into idols, free from passions, grudges and deep attachments to this passing age.

A fearless leader has put away all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander and malice and instead has found a way to be kind to others, tender hearted forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave them. (Eph 4:30)

Fearless leaders let “no evil talk come out of their mouths but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear.” (Eph 4:29)

A fearless leader lives in the truth about both their virtues and defects and has allowed Jesus in so He can prune everything that is not of Him.

Our deepest fears are rooted in our loss of the attachments we so dearly love, to the things of this world, a world that is passing away. 1 John 2:17 –  “And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

Pruning is a painful process as we grieve the loss of the things of the world that we have come to love and idolize.

Healing begins when you bring your fears and your wounds to your spiritual director, to a therapist, to Christ during Eucharistic adoration, during Mass and in private prayer.

Sure, you hope your misery and brokenness will somehow heal itself over time so you don’t have to open up and be vulnerable to others in a world that says you can’t allow yourself to be so bit inner healing does not happen on its own.

Once you start on your path, you must continue with your spiritual direction, psychological counseling, deep theological reading and you must make and be with good like-minded friends. These actions help fill the space, formerly occupied by your attachments, with happiness and gratitude.

Your freedom from these things of the earth – this passing age – will give you the freedom to give yourself as a gift to those you serve at work (your employees, customers, vendors and stakeholders) to help them on their own journey to excellence.
